Item number I-00118-24 9/1/24 2:42 am (homicide)@ Baudin and S. Solomon Streets; After an altercation in the Shamrock parking lot, one group that included the homicide victim were followed by the perpetrator, who fired several shots at the victim’s vehicle.  The shooting caused the vehicle to strike a fire hydrant and overturn.  The victim was shot in the head and died shortly thereafter at UMC.  The perpetrator (Chante Mack B/F 9/21/22) was arrested 9/4/24 and booked with homicide and additional charges.  It should be noted that pending further investigation additional charges could be filed, in addition to other arrests.

Item number I-00761-24 9/1/24 8:03 pm (pickpocket)@2727 Canal Street; While standing in line at the restaurant, the victim stated a B/M juvenile stole his wallet from his pocket.  The subject quickly fled the business in an awaiting vehicle, fleeing the scene (white van or SUV).

There was a business burglary on 9/3/24 3:00 am 2727 Canal Street, subjects entered through roof and stole cash and a simple burglary 9/2/24 9:00 am in the 4400 Block of Canal Street.
