Persons Crimes
This was a particularly bad week where we suffered two robberies and two murders.
Item # D-23281-23 4/24/23 10:30 am (armed robbery) @230 N. Broad Street (Dollar General); The store was robbed by two B/M’s one subject walking the aisles, the other proceeded to the safe room. The perpetrators was attired in worker construction clothing, including reflective vests. During the robbery the aisle perpetrator eventually entered the safe room too. The perpetrators stole approximately $3,000 dollars.
Item # D-24494-23 4/25/23 12:50 pm (murder) @2700 Block of Orleans Avenue; The victim was in her vehicle with her child when a vehicle pulled up next to the victim’s vehicle and shot her multiple times. The victim was targeted and it appears the perpetrators believe she may have had direct involvement in another murder.
Item # D-25313-23 4/26/23 8:58 am (sex offense) @600 Block of S. Solomon; The victim was allegedly inappropriately touched by a member of the household.
Item # D-27251-23 4/28/23 4:25 am (simple robbery) @ 4500 Block of Palmyra Street; The victim was walking in her friend’s driveway when she was approached from her rear by two B/M’s, the subjects demanded property, taking the victim’s iPhone. The second subject pulled at the victim’s purse, which fell to the ground. During the incident the victim screamed and a neighbor came outside. Likely due to a combination of both of those things the perpetrators did not attempt to retrieve the purse and only fled with the phone. The victim described the first perpetrator as mid 20’s 5’8” to 5’10”, 140lbs, however she stated he had a mask covering his face. The second subject was described as 5’10” to 5’11” 160lbs, also with a mask covering his face. There was no weapon involved or seen by the victim.
Item # D-28081-23 4/28/23 8:20 pm (murder) @3800 Canal Street; The victim was working at Mandina’s outside of the business when a vehicle pulled up in front of the location with two shooters. Both shooters fired at the victim striking him several times, the victim expired on scene. A customer was also struck by a round inside the business. It is clear the victim was targeted, at this time I have no further details on the incident.
The Tulane/S. Carrollton Avenue corridor is getting hot again and the area around S. Scott and Palmyra Streets has new activity, both vehicle thefts and burglaries.
