Crime Map February 26 – March 4, 2023

Persons Crimes

Item # B-26479-23 11:47 am (aggravated assault)@ 500 Block of N. Rendon Street;  The victim was waiting outside the nail salon to pick up his girlfriend, when a silver SUV driven by a B/M pulled up next to his vehicle, pointed a weapon at this vehicle, and told him to roll his window down.  The victim didn’t roll the window down and sped off.  The perpetrator had a jerry curl type hair style (possible wig).  After the victim fled, he observed the SUV flee to either west on N. Rendon or south on Tulane Avenue.

Item # B-27037-23 3:44 am (armed robbery)@ 131 N. Broad Street;  One employee at the Rally’s was taking out trash and propped the side door open as he was doing this.  Several minutes into throwing away trash two B/M subjects approached the outside employee with handguns, forcing the worker inside the fast food business where the perpetrators came into contact with additional workers, stealing over $1,400 and stealing one employee’s vehicle.  The worker’s vehicle was later recovered at N. Prieur and Conti Streets.

Item # N-00116-23 7:30 pm (pickpocket)@ 4100 Orleans Avenue;  The victim was leaving the Endymion Parade when she was repeatedly bumped by another female, shortly thereafter she realized her phone was missing.  The report is not complete and I’m assuming it was from her back pants pocket.  The report also gives no description of the suspected perpetrator.

Looking at the map thefts and vehicle burglaries are picking up, thefts are becoming more common in the last several months.  The four thefts were an outside a/c unit taken on Taft, bike on N. Rendon, camera on S. Salcedo and $3,500 in currency out of residence on St. Peter (no forced entry and likely committed by someone allowed inside the residence).
