Call to Order 6:30 p.m. A quorum was present.

A sign in sheet was passed around and all Board members and guests signed their names thereto.

A motion was made and approved to approve the minutes from the January meeting.

Crime Report — Jim Olsen gave the monthly crime statistics and trends report and answered questions put to him by Board members and guests. January 2015 Mid-City Crime and Arrest Stats:

A total of 60 crimes were reported, an increase of 12 for the same period in 2014: 1 murder, 5 armed robberies, 2 simple robberies, 1 assault, 6 stolen cars, 13 burglaries, 12 auto burglaries, 19 thefts and 1 purse snatching. 16 arrests: State Felony —2, State Misdemeanor — 10, Traffic arrest – 2 Summons arrests – 2

MCSD Activity report — there were 3,014 calls for service, 411 residential checks, 1,502 business checks, 98 traffic citations and 113 traffic warnings.

Friends of Lafitte Corridor Presentation Annalisa Kelly and Colin Ash made a presentation on the progress of construction of the Lafitte Greenway. Proposals to install surveillance cameras on appropriate structures near the Greenway and provide police bicycle patrols were also discussed.

Assessor Rolls Irregularities S. Jeanne Ward presented her research on the irregularities contained in the data obtained from the Orleans Parish Assessor’s Office. An estimated 600 parcels are not on the rolls and another 177 are somehow exempt form the parcel fee. Discussion was had about how to pursue the revenues lost by MCSD due to these errors. Further plans will be discussed after discussions are had with legal counsel.

Surveillance Camera Program After discussion, a motion was made, seconded and approved to suspend efforts to solicit bids for a surveillance camera program. Instead, the Commission will entertain requests from neighborhood organizations and possibly other entities to provide funds for worthy surveillance camera projects.

Operation clean sweep — Discussion was had as to the continuation of the

contract for graffiti remediation with Operation Clean Sweep.

Signing of the contract was tabled until the March meeting.

Board Positions Motions were made, seconded and approved to reappoint all positions on the Board.

Replacement of Sgt. Palumbo’s Car — A motion was made, seconded and approved to replace Sgt. Palumbo’s car. This is necessary so as to retire a Crown Victoria that is no longer usable and to begin using Sgt. Palumbo’s old car for surveillance work.

A motion to adjourn was made, seconded and approved and the meeting was concluded.
